Digestion and absorption mechanism of steam corn flakes

The whole process technology is a process of starch gelatinization. The hydrogen bonds tightly bound to starch are destroyed by gelatinization, and the structure of protein is also changed. The corn is expanded and softened by steam heat processing, and then the expanded corn is peeled and cracked by mechanical pressure generated by a pair of counter-rotating rollers to process the corn into flakes of specified density. In addition, the chemical structure of protein in corn is changed during steam flakes, which is beneficial to the absorption of protein by the rumen. The main factors in the process of steam flakes for corn are water, heat, processing time and mechanical action. Water makes corn expand and soften, and heating can make electrons move, destroy hydrogen bonds (long molecular chains of starch), and promote gelation reaction. Sufficient steam treatment time is the guarantee for obtaining a full gelation process. The role of silver rolling is the process of using mechanical force to squeeze and shape to achieve the specified tablet density.

Benefit Analysis of Corn Flakes Flattening Machine

Generally speaking, the digestibility of crushed corn is between 50% and 70%, and the digestibility and absorption rate of steam-flaked corn starch is as high as 95%. The absorption of steam-flaked corn is about 30% higher than that of crushed corn on average, the amount of feces produced is reduced by 15%, and the nutrients remaining in the feces are greatly reduced.

According to the 60% absorption and digestibility of crushed Wangmi, the value of nutrients wasted for every ton of Wangmi fed is: ï¿¥1,800/ton-ï¿¥1,800/ton×60%=ï¿¥720/ton.

According to the 90% absorption and digestibility of steam corn flakes, the value of nutrients wasted for every ton of corn fed is: ï¿¥2,100/ton-ï¿¥2,100/ton×90%=ï¿¥210/ton.

Theoretically, the nutritional value that can be saved by feeding 1 ton of steam corn flakes compared to crushed corn is: ï¿¥720/ton-ï¿¥210/ton=ï¿¥510.

Based on a small to medium-sized ranch with 3,000 dairy cows (or beef cattle), about 12 tons of steam-flaked corn (4kg/cattle per head) is needed every day, saving 12 tons × (510-300) = ï¿¥2,520/day, and ï¿¥2,520 × 365 days = ï¿¥919,800/year.
